Departure: 9:00 am daily
Visits: Andahuaylillas – Tipón – Pikillacta
Duration: Half-day (9:00 am to 3:30 pm)
Itinerary
We begin with pickup from your hotel and then head south of the city for a guided tour of three important sites. We begin with a visit to the Tipón archaeological site, a national archaeological complex located east of Cusco and famous for the hydraulic works and agricultural terraces that form part of this magical site, which still serves agriculture today with water from springs.
We will also visit the Pikillacta Archaeological Complex, which covers an area of 3,421 hectares (8,453 acres) and is located in the province of Quispicanchis, about 32 km (20 miles) east of Cusco. Along the way, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the Hacarpay Lagoon.
We will also visit the so-called “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” in Andahuaylillas, where we will stroll through its Main Square, adorned with coral trees (“pisonay”) and palm trees.
We’ll conclude the tour with a stop in the town of Oropesa, famous for its “chuta” breads. Finally, we’ll visit the village of Saylla, where we can sample the local pork cracklings, which are popular.
