You will discover one of the most fertile valleys in southern Peru: the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The tour begins between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. with pick-up from your hotel in the city of Cusco. Then, we will head northwest from the city in our tourist bus, passing through picturesque towns until we reach the Corao viewpoint, where we will get a preliminary view of the entire Sacred Valley and the imposing snow-capped mountains that protect the area.
Itinerary
The first archaeological site we will visit is Písac (Andean partridge). As we ascend, we will appreciate the impressive Inca terraces that line the mountains, giving us the impression of being part of them. Within Písac, we will visit Qanturaquay, Intihuatana (or Sun Clock), and Tanqanamarka, then descend to the town of Pisac to explore its artisan market, having some time to buy some souvenirs.
Afterwards, we will continue our tour to Ollantaytambo, stopping in the town of Urubamba, where you can have lunch before continuing to Ollantaytambo, an ancient resting place known as “the living Inca city,” as you can still see houses with Inca bases inhabited by the inhabitants. The most important site is the Temple of the Sun, located at the highest point of the archaeological site. To reach it, we must climb hundreds of stairs, which will require some effort, but it will be worth it, as the view from this spot is indescribable.
Before concluding, we will make a stop in Chinchero, where we will visit the local community and its Textile Interpretation Center, as well as explore the area’s archaeological site.
