Itinerary

DAY 1: Cusco – San Pedro de Cachora – Chiquisca – Playa Rosalinas – Santa Rosa

The bus will pick us up at the hotel at 5 am and take us to the Curahuasi district for breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue on the same bus to San Pedro de Cachora (3 hours) and Capuliyoc, where we will begin the hike. This will be the first stretch of descent, until we reach the Chikiska area. After lunch, we will descend to the Rosalinas Gap of the Apurimac River. From this area, we will continue hiking for approximately 3 hours to reach the first camp in Santa Rosa Baja. On this day, we will hike for 7 to 8 hours, depending on the group’s speed.

DAY 2: Santa Rosa – Marampata – Complejo Arqueológico Choquequirao

Once again, very early and after breakfast, we will begin a physically rewarding day of hiking. The trail takes us to the top of the mountain to Marampata (3,000 m), where we will have our second breakfast and regain energy to reach the summit of Choquequirao (3,350 m). Here we will have lunch and rest for the day, hopefully witnessing a beautiful sunset from our comfortable tents. This day consists of 8 km of hiking.

DAY 3: Choquequirao – Santa Rosa – Chiquisca

We’ll start the day at 6:30 a.m. After breakfast, we’ll return to Chiquisca along the same route. Along the route, we’ll hike up and down to reach Chiquisca, where we’ll camp overnight for our final camp. This day will consist of approximately 7 hours of hiking.

DAY 4: Chiquisca – Capuliyoc – Cusco

The day’s activities begin at 7 am for the final leg of the trip. We’ll climb to a final viewpoint called Capuliyoc. From here, we’ll be able to appreciate the Inca archaeological city of Choquequirao, the Apurimac River canyon, and the snow-capped mountain of Padreyoc, considered by many to be the most spectacular in South America. Completing the tour, our transportation will take us back to Cusco. We’ll arrive back around 3 pm. The day’s hike will last about 3 hours.
