Itinerary
Day 1: Arequipa – Chivay – Calera Hot Springs
We begin our journey in the morning with pickup from your hotel. We’ll head to Pampas Cañahuas (Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve), home to beautiful South American camelids such as vicuñas and guanacos, as well as migratory birds such as flamingos and Andean gulls. Afterward, we’ll reach the Mirador de Volcanes, the highest point of the route at 4,800 meters above sea level, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Western Cordillera. At approximately 1:30 p.m., we’ll arrive in Chivay and, after lunch, settle into our accommodations.
At 3:30 p.m., we’ll visit the popular La Calera hot springs, a heavenly place to relax in the thermal waters. Afterward, we’ll return to our accommodations.
Day 2: Chivay – Condor Cross – Arequipa
In the morning, we’ll pick up from your hotel in Chivay and head to the Cruz del Cóndor Natural Lookout. During the journey, marvel at the beautiful landscapes of the Colca River and the ancient agricultural terraces. Our local guide will provide information about the different indigenous groups that inhabited and still inhabit the Colca Valley.
At the Cruz del Cóndor Lookout, you can admire the natural beauty of the canyon and witness the majestic flight of condors while taking short hikes in the surrounding area. Afterward, we’ll return to Chivay, stopping in typical towns such as Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque, which are home to beautiful colonial churches. In Chivay, we’ll have time for lunch and finally return to Arequipa, arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m.
